Pitch & Putt is a precision sport played on short-hole courses, usually all par 3. The aim is to complete each hole in as few strokes as possible.
It is easy to start playing, yet deep enough for technique, short game and putting to matter.
The main difference is hole and course length. In Pitch & Putt the distances are much shorter and the game focuses especially on approach shots and putting.
You also play with fewer clubs, and the exact rules may vary according to each country or association.
It depends on the rules.
In FIPPA international competitions, holes have a maximum of 90 metres and an 18-hole course cannot exceed 1,200 metres.
Other rules allow different distances. In Catalonia, for example, courses may have holes roughly between 40 and 120 metres.
The most common format is 18 holes, but 9-hole courses and layouts also exist.
Because each hole is usually par 3, an 18-hole course typically has par 54 and a 9-hole one, par 27.
An 18-hole round usually takes roughly 2 to 3 hours, depending on the number of players, pace of play and how busy the course is.
A 9-hole layout can be completed considerably faster.
It depends on the rules you are playing under.
In the international FIPPA format a maximum of 3 clubs is allowed, one of which must be a putter.
Other rules are different. In Catalonia, for example, up to 7 clubs may be used, including a putter.
So it is always worth checking the rules of the course or competition.
Most Pitch & Putt holes are par 3.
The round score is worked out by comparing your total strokes with the par of the course.

Many courses allow recreational play without a handicap, but conditions may vary by course, country or type of competition.
For certain official competitions a licence, handicap or membership of the relevant organisation may be required.
Yes. The short distances make it accessible for starting out without needing to master long shots.
At the same time, improving at Pitch & Putt requires precision, distance control, a good short game and consistency with the putter, so it is also very demanding for experienced players.
EPPA is the European Pitch & Putt organisation.
When a course has an EPPA layout or configuration, the distances are adapted to the European/international format.
The same venue may have different configurations or layouts, each with its own distances.
In the My P&P catalogue you can search courses by name, town or area, filter by country or use your location to find the nearest ones.
Each course may include information such as location, available layouts, distances, scorecard, website and contact details.
